Jo Chee
Jo holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy and is accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Her approach is Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy and relational, blending CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Gestalt, psychodynamics, body work, developmental psychology, existential psychotherapy and a person-centered approach. Emotions and experiences are explored from a holistic viewpoint.
Jo believes in psychoeducation and nourishment; enabling and empowering others to understand and narrate their own lives. She provides theory and explains the therapeutic process to help clients’ understanding, only if helpful to the client. The aim of therapy is to provide a safe space for clients to achieve autonomy at their own pace and on their own terms.
The rapport between a practitioner and client is paramount; this provides security and ease for clients, so therefore there is a strong emphasis on the relationship between Jo and clients. Without comfort and trust it can be difficult to share and address issues in the process, this can also worked through in sessions. Jo brings her real personal self into the work and encourages clients to do so too, when they are ready, as people need a real person not just a “therapist” for a real authentic experience to learn from.
No two sessions are the same for clients, the work involved for each person varies and is subjective depending on the individual. Sessions are reviewed after a few weeks to evaluate the process and clients are encouraged to feedback their experience.

FAQs & Information
How does it work?
Initial sessions are usually focused on building a rapport and getting to know each other, while addressing presenting issues.
The pace and content of counselling/therapy is determined by the individual: the work moves at a comfortable pace for which the client is ready and wanting to work through. There are no forced or mandatory disclosures, clients share only what feels safe and comfortable to share.
An in-dept process requires time and commitment, so sessions are weekly at the same time on the same day each week. This is to maintain consistency and to best progress in the therapeutic work. The process is different for each person, so the duration and termination of therapy is subjective to the individual. One week’s notice at minimum is requested when terminating sessions.
